There are over 400 modalities in psychotherapy. Modality is the treatment approach a psychotherapist may use.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBTs) is considered to be “evidence-based” and “empirically supported.” That is why I am using CBT.
However, as a experienced and skillful cognitive-behavioral therapist I understand from experience that CBT doesn’t always work. Some people are just not able to follow the protocols, to do homework or understand the difference between the concepts of automatic thoughts and cognitive distortions. It is fine with me. I also do not understand some things.
What I have witnessed in my experience – some clients demand a certain type of therapy (like psychoanalysis), some are comfortable with the “talk therapy”. Most clients however do not know the difference between different modalities (like DBT and Schema-therapy) all hty care – is their problems.
