Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about psychotherapy services

Therapy can benefit anyone seeking support, personal growth, or help with specific challenges. You will find it out as soon as you start the psychotherapy.

I have a sliding scale. For details go to Fees Page.

You can pay via Interac and you will get a Receipt.

Many insurance plans in Ontario and other provinces of Canada cover psychotherapy services. For details please refer to your insurance plan. A receipt will be issued to you after the payment is received. The receipt can be submitted for reimbursement.

Please provide 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged a portion or the full fee as the time was reserved especially for you.

During the first session I will explain you the essence of psychotherapy, answer all your questions and you will be asked to sign a Consent for Psychotherapy or agree to it verbally. This is the requirement of all regulated professions in Canada.

If you need formal assessment or a formal diagnosis then a psychologist may be helpful. Psychotherapy offers you treatment and support without formal assessment and diagnosis.

I just need some information about you (name, date of birth, address - for billing purposes). All communications and therapy sessions are confidential and protected by professional ethics and privacy laws. Some restrictions apply (such as risk of harm to self or others, or court orders).

The duration of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people find short-term therapy (8-12 sessions) helpful, while others benefit from longer-term support. It will be up for you to decide.

I use a variety of methods, including Neuro-linguistic Programming, Cognitive Behavioural and Cognitive Processing Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Positive Psychotherapy, among others.

My patient approach fosters self-understanding, insight into unrecognized strengths and contributes to a broadening of perspective and more multidimensional thinking.
